The Portarlington-to-Docklands ferry service is proving to be a fun, relaxed and scenic way for Bellarine Springs residents to get to and from Melbourne for a day trip or even an overnight stay. The 400-seat ferry, The Bellarine Express, travels from Portarlington to Docklands and back twice a day, with each leg taking around 80 minutes.

The ferry features inside and outside seating, wheelchair-accessible toilets and an onboard licensed café offering snacks, tea, coffee and wine. Wheelchairs and motorised mobility scooters are welcome onboard.

Bellarine Springs residents, couple Alan and Anne, said they recently took a day trip on the ferry and had a “fabulous time”. “The ferry docks close to the free CBD tram network, and it’s also really close to Southern Cross train station, which makes it easy to explore everything the city has to offer,” Alan said. “The ferry is comfortable, and the journey across the Bay is very scenic too!”
